Nepal Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) is a project funded by UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) aiming to promote planning and investment in a low carbon development path resulting in growth, poverty reduction and climate smart development in Nepal. It is managed by DAI Europe and delivered through partnership with Winrock International Nepal, Sammridha Pahad and Policy Entrepreneurs Inc. (PEI) in Province 2, Province 5 and Karnali Province of Nepal.
SWN, Lead in Partnership with SRI (Sustainable and Resilient Ideas Pvt. Ltd.) is assigned by NREP for study of 223 Micro Hydro Plant (MHP) for their functionality in total of 15 districts of Province 5 and Karnali Province. The objective of the study is to find out the functional status, grid interconnection possibility and connection of additional household through system improvement of MHP.

Key Activities

The functionality study shall cover those MHPs larger than 10 kW in the project areas. The study conducts technical, financial, environmental, socio- economic and institutional assessments of the listed Microhyrdro Power Plants. Key activities are:
